WHO IS DOBBO?
After completing boarding school in Sydney, Ben headed bush, kicking off his career as a jackaroo on Brunette Downs in the Northern Territory before spending 15 years as a stock and station agent across Queensland. It's a background that gave him something no media training ever could: genuine authenticity.
In 2012, Ben made the jump to Triple M, hosting Dead Set Legends before cementing himself as the definitive voice of rugby league in Queensland. He now leads Triple M's coverage as head commentator and hosts the flagship Sunday Sin-Bin, as well as driving home the afternoon with The Rush Hour Queensland, live across the state every weekday from 4 to 6pm.
A familiar face on Channel 9, Ben also serves as their League Insider, bringing sharp insight and straight-talking analysis to one of the country's biggest sporting audiences.
Never one to sidestep a tough question or dodge a hard conversation, Dobbo brings an unfiltered, no-nonsense perspective that his audience has come to trust and love. That same spirit runs through his daily podcast, Rural QLD Today — a platform connecting regional communities across Queensland with current news, stories, and the issues that matter most beyond the city limits.
When he's not behind the mic, Ben is where he's happiest — surrounded by his five children, deeply embedded in his Ipswich community, and living out his enduring love for everything rural.
